The TCL Chinese Theatre first opened its doors on May 18, 1927. It was originally named Grauman's Chinese Theatre after its owner, Sid Grauman, who was a master showman at the time. On opening day, thousands of people lined up to see the world premiere of the film "The King of Kings."

Over the years, the theatre has undergone a few changes. In 2013, the TCL Chinese Theatre was renamed after the electronics company TCL Corporation purchased the naming rights. However, the theatre has kept its iconic façade and historic Hollywood charm despite its name change.

What Makes the TCL Chinese Theatre Special?

Since its opening, the TCL Chinese Theatre has held some of the most talked-about events in Hollywood. In addition to being the site of many movie premieres, the theatre is also known for its celebrity handprints and footprints on the concrete outside.

As the world's largest IMAX theatre, the TCL Chinese Theatre is also a favorite destination for movie fans looking for an immersive experience. The auditorium seats up to 932 people in a luxurious setting, making it the perfect place to catch the latest blockbuster film.
