Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Founded in 1983, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is one of the country's largest natural and historical museums. Its world-class collections boast nearly 35 million artifacts and pieces spanning 4.5 billion years of natural history. The most notable feature of the museum is a three-floor section of permanent exhibits devoted to dinosaurs, animal habitats, and ancient cultures. The museum also has celebrated mineralogy and paleontology areas. There's also a strong local connection. Specimens found in the museum's paleontology section were retrieved from the nearby La Brea Tar Pits.
